There are two ways of adding StayPrivate. You can use the StayPrivate REST application programming interface to create and send messsages, including attachments. API documentation is available here.

Alternatively, if your application already sends emails, you can simply route emails sent by your application to go via the StayPrivate secure relay server. Both approaches work equally well.

Most corporate email servers are well-protected, meaning that emails between corporates are normally secure. The problem is the lack of security around emails sent to or received from personal email accounts - for example, emails to or from clients, employees, advisers, consultants, non-execs and small companies.

StayPrivate handles emails differently depending on whether the recipient email address is corporate or personal. Emails to or from free email providers (such as Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo) are encrypted and stored in the StayPrivate secure environment.

For emails to or from corporate email accounts, we use TLS encryption to ensure the security of the email whilst in transit. Once the email arrives at the corporate server, the organization takes over the duty of care - just as it would when receiving a physical delivery.

If the corporate email server does not support TLS encryption, we ensure the email remains private by treating it as a personal email.
